LINES

SPRING 2016
USC, Jason Kerwin

The folly garden stems from the initial study of the primitive hut.

The grid is used as a tool for processing information and analyzing spatial organization. A linear formal language is further developed into a series of follies: a cube, a vertical tower, and a horizontal rectangle. Each emphasize directionality through the continuity and discontinuity of lines in either the horizontal or vertical direction, and the transparency of each folly. Implied spaces are defined by the disconnection of the grid. An implied connection among each folly is further maintained through the extension of the grid across the site.
